Philosophy and Aims
Eastside Lutheran College is a co-educational school under the auspices
of the Victorian/Tasmanian District Synod of the Lutheran Church of Australia,
and is dedicated to a distinctive education centred in Jesus Christ.
Each member of the College community is recognised
as a unique and special child of God.
The College believes that its purpose is to enhance
the spiritual, intellectual and physical growth of each student within
a caring environment. Eastside Lutheran College commits itself and all
that it does to the task of equipping each individual for a rich and meaningful
life dedicated to the service of God and all people.
Eastside Lutheran College is committed to providing a Christ-centred
comprehensive education. To this end we will encourage and assist students
to:
- develop their academic abilities through disciplined
study of a diverse curriculum and participation in co-curricular programs.
- strengthen their faith development through participation
in daily worship and Christian instruction.
- develop attitudes, values and relationships consistent
with the Christian faith through the good example of peers and staff
and by their involvement in programs of pastoral care and counselling.
- pursue individual and corporate excellence by following
positive role-models and having a commitment to College activities.
- develop initiative and enhance self-esteem by accepting
opportunities for responsible leadership and decision-making.
- further their development in areas of personal,
social and civic responsibility by involvement in a variety of service
activities.
- develop their physical fitness and sporting skills
through physical education and sporting programs.

We believe that the education process is a shared responsibility.
Parents, having been blessed by God through the gift of children, have
a responsibility in the growth and development of these children and we
give praise to God that we, at Eastside Lutheran College, can share that
God-given task with them.
We therefore encourage parents to give their full support
to these aims, to discuss them with their children, and so avoid, as far
as possible, any conflict of values between the home and the school.
