How you can help your child succeed
At Eastside Lutheran College we believe parents, carers and guardians, are our student’s first and most important teachers. Many studies show that what the family does is the most important factor in a child’s educational success. When families are involved in their children’s schooling and are positive about their child’s school, students will get the best from our educational programs.
There are many ways that you as a parent/guardian can support your child’s learning at home and throughout the school year.
- Meet your child’s teacher at the beginning of the year
- Attend parent / teacher meetings
- Attend parent information nights
- Get to know who's who at the College
- Be positive about your child’s education
- Ensure your child’s attendance is regular and on time
- Contact your child’s teacher if you have questions
- Ensure your child is ready for the school day
- Ensure your child wears the correct uniform and takes pride in the College uniform
- Make sure you are aware of homework and assignment requirements and due dates
- Prioritise healthy eating and sleeping habits
- Volunteer at the College
- Monitor your child's social media and internet use
- Encourage your child to read each night
- Encourage your child to participate in the College extracurricular activities
