Lutheran Education - Where LOVE comes to life
Welcome to Eastside Lutheran College. This website will provide you with up-to-date information about the College. However, to experience the inclusive culture and whole child education that ELC offers, it is best to experience this first-hand. You are most welcome to speak with our friendly Office staff who will book a tour for you. One of our students will guide you around the College and answer any questions you have in the typically honest, thoughtful and erudite manner expected of an ELC student.
At ELC we talk of the College being a living body, with a head (a commitment to intellectual growth as well as academic rigour), a heart (a loving, serving, compassionate sense), a soul (a strength of faith that keeps our eyes toward our vision) and legs (the people and energy to walk the talk and carry out our mission). In developing and growing this dynamic body that is ELC, the College has an equal focus on the arts, academics and outdoor education with an emphasis on living and doing and out-of-classroom experiences with a strong service element.
At ELC, we focus on providing a unique, transformational, and inclusive educational environment that enables every student to recognize their own potential. We aim to develop the whole child, spiritually, emotionally, academically, physically, socially, and culturally. Student engagement is considered essential and tapping into children’s curiosity and interests and encouraging them to extend themselves, take risks, make mistakes and keep trying, are key to their future success.
Positive relationships with parents and carers and students provide the basis for our thriving and growing ELC community and we value parents and carers contributions to their child’s holistic education. Our diverse, inclusive community is unique and of great importance to the positive culture of the College. We believe everyone in our community is to be loved and respected and as a community, we all have an individual and collective responsibility to work together in harmony.
The uniqueness and commitment of the College cannot be overstated. New staff often make comments such as, ‘you actually walk the talk’ and a new parent related ELC to a ‘big, warm hug.’ At ELC, students feel genuinely loved and accepted for who they are. This creates a wonderful environment where every child can learn and develop to their full potential.
