Our Approach

Faith In Action - Community At Heart

At Eastside Lutheran College, each child is seen as unique and of equal value. God has created each of us with varying gifts and talents, and it is our job as educators to help discover and apply these gifts. We work in partnership with our families to provide a safe, well-connected and engaging community for all of our students. We prioritise pastoral care and intentionally develop each student’s social and emotional wellbeing each day. We provide structured literacy and numeracy programs from K-10, ensuring that each child has a tailored program according to their needs and current level of understanding. Our students enjoy a year level camp experience each year (from Year 3) and explore the broad curriculum in their time at ELC.

We look forward to welcoming you here to our ELC community.

Child Safety and Wellbeing Statement

Child Safety Commitment

Eastside Lutheran College is dedicated to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all students and children in our care. We strive to provide a safe and supportive learning environment where children feel secure and empowered to have a voice in decisions that affect them.

All employees, volunteers, and visitors are expected to model and encourage exemplary behaviour that protects students from harm. Our College community has a shared responsibility to understand and uphold child safety principles.

We take a proactive and preventive approach to child safety, fostering a culture where concerns can be reported without fear. Our employment practices align with the Australian Childhood Foundation Safeguarding Children Program and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

Our Responsibilities

Everyone at Eastside Lutheran College is responsible for:

  • Protecting children and young people from abuse, bullying, and exploitation.
  • Remaining alert to child abuse and neglect, including incidents outside our direct operations that may impact students.
  • Creating and maintaining a child-safe culture, ensuring all staff, volunteers, and visitors understand and act on their responsibilities.

Our Expectations

All members of our organisation, regardless of their role, must:

  • Follow the child safety practices and behaviours set by the College.
  • Report any known or suspected abuse or neglect to management and/or external child protection authorities, including cases involving family members, extended networks, or strangers.

At Eastside Lutheran College, safeguarding children is a collective commitment, and we expect everyone in our community to actively contribute to their safety and wellbeing.
