Community Engagement Group
Serving Our Community
Parent, carer and guardian involvement is a vital and highly valued element of college life.
We are blessed to have many volunteers in our Community Engagement Group (CEG) who support our school community in a number of ways including fundraising, assisting with sporting events, celebrations such as Mother’s and Father’s Day, market stalls and more.
Whether it be or one hour a year or across multiple activities, all contributions are very much appreciated and contribute to what makes ELC a great school community.
What We Do
The Community Engagement Group (CEG) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive environment that enhances community connections, celebrates diverse cultures, and nurtures a sense of belonging among all students, families, and staff.
All relatives and friends of students are invited to join the CEG who meet on the first Tuesday of the month during term times, at 2pm in the St Peter’s Hall. More information and an application form to join the CEG can be obtained from the College Registrar: enrolments@elc.tas.edu.au.
Our purpose encompasses the following key objectives:
- Facilitate Engagement: Organise events, workshops, and activities that encourage interaction among students, families, and local organizations, thereby strengthening the ties within our school community.
- Promote Collaboration: Partner with local businesses, cultural organisations, and community leaders to create opportunities for shared learning and mutual support.
- Promote participation: Increase community involvement in school special events.
- Supportive Environment: Create a welcoming atmosphere where every student and family feel valued and included, regardless of their background or identity.
- Encourage Participation: Actively involve students and families in decision-making processes, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions recognised.
- Strengthen Connection: Encourage relationships and engagement between primary and secondary families and students.
- Networking Opportunities: Create platforms for families to connect with one another, share resources, and build supportive networks within the school community.
Through these initiatives, the Community Engagement Group aims to cultivate a thriving school environment where connections are strengthened, cultures are celebrated, and every individual feels a profound sense of belonging. Together, we strive to create a community that is not only inclusive but also rich in shared experiences and mutual respect.
