International Students
Studying at Eastside Lutheran College
Eastside Lutheran College welcomes students from a range of cultural and international backgrounds. We value the richness and diversity that international students bring to our school community and are committed to supporting each student as they settle into life and learning in Tasmania.
What is an International Student?
An international student is an overseas national who comes to Australia on a visa that allows them to study. Some students arrive on a student visa specifically for the purpose of attending school, while others may be in Australia as a dependant on a parent's visa or on another type of visa that permits study.
Do International Students Need to Pay Fees?
Some international students are required to pay additional fees to study at an independent school in Tasmania. Fee requirements depend on the type of visa held by the student.
To determine whether international student fees apply in addition to ELC's standard tuition fees, please contact our Registrar and provide a copy of your current visa documentation.

What About Bridging Visas?
A bridging visa is issued when a person enters Australia on one type of visa and later applies for another. It allows the individual to remain in Australia lawfully after their original visa expires while the Department of Home Affairs assesses their new visa application.
For school fee purposes, eligibility is generally determined by the visa held immediately before the bridging visa was granted. If the previous visa was exempt from additional international student fees, the student will typically only be required to pay Eastside Lutheran College's standard tuition fees. If the previous visa attracted international student fees, those fees may continue to apply while the student remains on a bridging visa.
